Something new and exciting. I chased her. She was beautiful, but I should have left her alone. For me, first love came with several blows. Not the kind you enjoy. In the end I wasn't good enough. She left me for another.
We first met at a club. You already know the story if you are listening. She is a succubus. I fell for her charm. So did others. Watching it happen in front of my face took the last piece of my soul.
After my fall, the memories kept washing over me like a tide. Time became irrelevant. I took a trip to a place called Han Iar. I bathed in the water and was shown a new path. Subgenius type of stuff.
After my rise in the church I had a following. A new group to do my bidding. They followed me until it was too late. I won't reveal what happened here, but I documented my experiences in recordings...
Up in the Morning is a double LP that spans 30 years of recording from 4-track cassette to ADAT to DAW. Every album is 140g multi-color vinyl, gatefold cover, and contains 21 songs
LP 1 runtime 40:30 | LP 2 runtime 42:35
Don't worry, every song on the digital release is also on this LP.
From April 2021 to April 2022 I released a song, EP, or LP every week for a total of 52 weeks. I filmed a bunch of footage while I was on this adventure. Read more about it here.
On November 4th, 2022 I wrote the song "Crash to the Ground" at my brother's place in Kentucky. I sent it to the Circus Queen. Four days later I'm playing the song live at an open mic night in Nashville.
I decide to write a concept album. Rules are to play all of the parts live with no computer control. There is my normal voice and a vocoder. Neither are allowed to sing at the same time. I bought a Yamaha YME8 midi splitter to change the direction of control on the keyboards.
I put the deposit down at the recording studio on November 19th with only 2 songs written. I wrote 8 more songs over the course of the week. I picked sounds for the final song, but didn't compose it. On December 19th, 2022 I walked into the studio with a Dave Smith Prophet Rev 2, Korg Opsix, Roland JD-Xi, Roland JX-08 Boutique, Roland R-70, and PRS Mira. In 5 hours I recorded 11 songs to tape.
The last 3 songs (Wake Up, Hurry Back, and Exodus) were recorded on the first take. "Exodus" was written and performed ad lib while the tape was rolling.
The album was written and completed 45 days from start to finish. Check it out: https://harryrooster.com/the-circus-alive
