self-imposed rules:
- one human, four synths, a drum machine, and a guitar
- live to tape
- no overdubs
- no computer control
I booked the studio 30 days in advance and I only had 2 songs written
entire album recorded at Welcome to 1979 in 5 hours
this was my first time in a professional studio
the engineer only kept the last take of each song and I didn't find out until I was done
during the final chord on "Breaking Me Inside", the 2" tape ran off the reel
"Wake Up" and "Hurry Back" were done first take
"Exodus" was written ad-lib while recording and was only one take
